Controlling Flooding Correlations

Hi,
I would like throw a couple of general questions to the readers about

(a) Pros and cons in using calculated flooding (based on tray geometry) as a CV. I suppose if the flooding correlation captures the delta change in flooding/loading conditions fairly well it should be possible to use as a CV.

(b) If there were no DPs available (or may be unreliable) how would one find the onset of flooding conditions especially in non-high-purity columns such as frac towers.
